Meet the owners of Kuranda Wholefoods - Australian Owned and MadeSince our humble beginnings in a cottage kitchen in Kuranda within the Far North Queensland Atherton Tableland Region, our goal has always remained the same; To never compromise on quality and to always deliver nutritious and delicious products to our customers.

The Kuranda Wholefoods Range is 100% gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, and low GI and made with only the best quality natural ingredients. Everything is made lovingly in-house by our team of health nuts and designed to suit a variety of dietary needs; from paleo, vegan, low-fructose, low sugar, low salt diets and more.

The Beginning:
The Kuranda Wholefoods story started back in 2006, out of a quaint cottage kitchen in the suburb of Kuranda, nestled within Far North Queensland’s Atherton Tablelands Region. The original artisan bars were sold at local farmers markets and packaged and presented in ‘glad wrap’. The humble Kuranda bars were somewhat of a local secret as word and popularity quickly spread and they were eagerly snapped up at the local markets each week.

Maria Peronace just happened to visit one of these local farmers markets where Kuranda bars were being sold whilst on holiday in Cairns in 2005. After falling in love with the product, Maria knew this was something she had to share and acquired the Kuranda Fine Foods and Aussie Snax Brands. 

Sharing the Goodness
After returning home with the recipes and brand secrets in tow, Maria launched the Kuranda Wholefoods brand in 2006.  With a keen interest in health and nutrition, as well as experience in sales and marketing, Maria wanted to share the wholesome natural goodness of these products with everyone and continued making the “home-made” bars, using the integrity and taste that had made them so popular.

Kuranda Bars officially launched in 2006 at the Sydney Gluten Free Expo, closely followed by launches in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

The demand for Kuranda Bars continued to grow and we moved to larger premises in 2007 to further expand the brand. In an effort to meet a variety of dietary requirements and choices, the Kuranda Wholefoods Range expanded to include our 100% Gluten Free, Wheat Free and Dairy Free Natural Mueslis as well as our Kuranda Quinoa & Chia Bars and the original Kuranda Seed Bars, now available in a variety of different flavours.

By using the finest wholefood ingredients, we create healthy treats that are completely gluten free, wheat free, dairy free and low GI. Our commitment to creating healthy products means that we are constantly looking into the ways we can cater for those with specific dietary requirements or choices and many of our products are suitable for paleo, grain free, sugar free, fructose free and low carbohydrate diets – among many others.

Our factory is 100% gluten free and each and every product in our range is endorsed by the Coeliac Society of Australia, as well as recommended by Naturopaths and Dietitians across Australia.
